Born in Komono, Mie Prefecture, in 1982. He studied composition under Joji Yuasa. He has received awards and honors at numerous competitions, including the Music Competition of Japan (2009), Isang Yun Prize (2011), International Music Tournament (2010), I.C.O.M.S. International Composition Contest (2011), Cintermia International Composition Competition (2012), Alvarez Chamber Orchestra International Composition Competition (2012), Toru Takemitsu Composition Award (2013), Pablo Casals International Composition Competition (2015), Sun River Prize (2015), Weimar Spring Music Festival Composition Competition (2016), and the International Composers' Competition of the European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016. His works have been performed at festivals such as the Icon Arts Contemporary Music Festival in Romania (2013), Takefu International Music Festival (2010, 2013, 2014), Tongyeong International Music Festival in South Korea (2015), and the Melos-Ethos International Festival of Contemporary Music in Slovakia (2015), by ensembles and orchestras including Ensemble Calliope, Ensemble TIMF, Ensemble Idée Fixe, Tokyo Sinfonietta, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Next Mushroom Promotion, and Ensemble Mise-en. Currently, while pursuing doctoral research on prosody at the University of Kent in the UK, he serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Music at the Nihon University College of Art in Tokyo.
