Włodzimierz Grabiński
(1922, Warsaw, Poland – 1981, Opole, Poland)
Włodzimierz Grabiński was a Polish pianist and educator. He was born in Warsaw in 1922. He had piano lessons until the outbreak of World War II, during which he was sent to Germany and subjected to forced labor. In 1945, on his way back to his hometown Warsaw, he stayed in Opole and remained strongly connected to the city for the rest of his life.
From 1945 onwards, Włodzimierz Grabiński made a living by giving piano lessons in Opole. In addition to his educational activities, he also devoted himself to composition. The majority of his works were piano pieces primarily intended for educational purposes, but he also wrote choral works and incidental music for theatrical productions. From 1950, he served as the conductor of a mixed choir at the Cultural Center in Opole. Although his musical education had been interrupted during the war, he supplemented his studies at the State Higher Schools of Music in Katowice and Wrocław, and in 1956, he officially obtained certification as a music artist. In addition to his teaching profession, Włodzimierz Grabiński also worked as a certified appraiser of musical instruments and continued his activities until his death in 1981.
