The third movement should be performed with a light touch. Achieving a sense of lightness is crucial, necessitating meticulous attention to articulation. The left-hand accompaniment figure, an arpeggiated chord of three eighth notes, appears from the outset. For its execution, one may select either of the following approaches:
- 1. All three eighth notes are played staccato.
- 2. The first and second eighth notes are connected with a legato, while the second and third notes are played staccato.
Alternatively, a combination of approaches 1 and 2 may be employed, varying their application according to the musical context.
Measures 9-12 constitute a section of heightened tension, culminating in a cadence in E minor. A descending sequence commences from measure 9; despite its descending nature, a crescendo should be applied, maintaining tension until the cadence in measure 11.
Another passage exhibiting rising tension is the ascending sequence beginning at measure 14, which builds towards the apex, B, in measure 16. Select either measures 9-12 or measures 14-16, and intensify the tension within the chosen passage. Avoid raising the tension equally in both sections; instead, adjust the dynamics such that one section achieves a distinctly higher level of tension.
