Despite being in a minor key, this gigue is full of humor and vitality. Originally, the word 'gigue' itself means 'to frolic' or 'to romp,' and if that is its etymology, then this piece is fitting for it. The meter should be perceived in 4 beats, and it should never be played at a slow tempo.
Upon examining the entire score, one can observe that three eighth notes are written per beat, while on the other hand, dotted quarter notes are written as an accompaniment figure. However, this is primarily in the first half, and as the piece approaches the latter half, these dotted quarter notes largely disappear, leaving only eighth notes. Have you noticed this?
In other words, the closer it gets to the latter half, the more the vitality increases, and the tension rises.
Around measure 40, it is advisable to briefly drop to pp, and as it progresses towards the final measure, essentially maintain a long crescendo (although there are fluctuations in dynamics during this period) leading to the final cadence. It is good to gradually build the tension with a clear sense of direction.
