From the beginning to measure 8, the left hand carries the main beat, and the tempo and phrasing are primarily shaped by the left hand. Both hands are marked with staccato, but the left hand's staccato should not be too sharp; instead, play with an emphasis on the beat of the 2/2 time signature. From measure 12, the register rises, and the rhythmic feel changes, becoming more nimble. Perhaps like a baby kangaroo? Here, the dynamics become f, but rather than simply playing loudly, enjoy the change by making the staccato shorter than before and playing with a bright, resonant tone. From measure 16, the left hand again takes center stage, leading to ff at measure 20 with a crescendo. I believe a very slight accelerando, almost imperceptible in notation, would be effective. From measure 21, play with a sense of direction in the sound, as if moving from the chord on beat 2 towards the chord on beat 1. Kangaroos don't jump in place, do they? Play as if leaping forward!
