Vivo, 2/4 time. Burlesque is said to be a reinterpretation or caricature of a famous work, deriving from the Italian word 'burla,' meaning a joke or prank. It is characterized by jocular accents and appoggiaturas. Begin with an awareness of the opening anacrusis. The unexpected F-sharp in measure 4 creates an interesting effect, as if applying a slight brake. Play the accented note with an appoggiatura in measure 5 boldly, without letting it become heavy. Thereafter, the music continues to progress rapidly in an ascending line. From the anacrusis in measure 18, the opening melody returns in a varied form. From the anacrusis in measure 22, a sense of exhilaration is felt from the ascending line in the left hand and the rhythm in the right hand, and from measure 23, the music progresses without stopping. The ascending line of double appoggiaturas from measure 34 builds anticipation towards the climax. Subsequently, it returns to the opening melody, concluding with a flamboyant ending.
