Firstly, the key is F major, which in Bach's works is a key with a rather strong character, lively and optimistic. Furthermore, this piece is written in a compound meter. Compound meters in Bach's compositions typically possess an energetic and forward-moving character.
Given these elements, it is desirable to perform it at a fast tempo, with a large volume, and in a lively manner.
The highest note in this piece is C on the second ledger line above the treble clef, which appears three times throughout the piece. The first occurrence is in measure 2, beat 2; the second in measure 6, beat 4; and the third in measure 13, beat 2. While all three Cs are at the same pitch, the third C (in measure 13) is utilized as the most significant peak point. Please establish this as the peak point and direct the musical line towards it.
After this third C, the line gradually descends to F, an octave and a fifth lower (measure 16). However, from an expressive standpoint, it is desirable to play the F in measure 16 with a crescendo, so it would be appropriate to initiate another crescendo from measure 15, beat 3, leading into measure 16.
