The fourth movement features intense percussive elements and ostinato-like features, which are characteristic elements of the malambo often found in the final movements of Ginastera's works. The time signature indicated in the score, 3/8 = 6/16, also reveals the characteristic features of hemiola (sesquialtera), which forms the basis of the malambo. Moreover, the transformation of the same melodic pattern into an ingeniously varied expression each time it reappears, such as the single-note melody in the right hand later emerging as a two-hand octave canon, is truly characteristic of Ginastera.
