Conversely, the middle section regains the momentum from the preceding movements, presenting rapid arpeggios of triads reminiscent of the first movement, and ultimately developing into a cadenza with a leisurely tempo and wide range. After a fantastical transitional passage featuring scalar runs on the piano, the theme is briefly recapitulated.
