The charm of this Minuet can be brought out by clearly contrasting it with the Trio. The Minuet should be played plainly and with dignity, yet without becoming overly heavy. The Trio, with its chromatic progressions, can be interpreted as an expression of a certain sadness. A similar variation, where the melody emphasizes the off-beats, can also be found in the F minor Fantasy.

In such instances where the left and right hands play notes alternately, care must be taken to prevent the two voices from becoming muddled. The performer should first ensure that both voices are connected in an orderly fashion, avoiding unnecessary breaks or excessive lengthening of voices due to the pedal. Subsequently, by minimizing the volume of the left-hand voice, it becomes possible to make the two voices sound independent. Even in the presence of a forte marking, playing the left hand at pp or p while clearly articulating the right hand will achieve this independence of voices. This independence allows the music to flow horizontally; it should never sound vertically segmented.
