This Gavotte with variations clearly exhibits Handel's distinctive characteristics. Personally, I would prefer the tempo of measure 1 and measure 57 to be identical. Even if measure 57 conveys a sense of pressure or urgency, it is desirable for it to proceed at a presto tempo. As this is the section where the tension reaches its peak, it should be played as fast as possible, and this tempo should be maintained as the same tempo for measure 1.
Measures 1-4 are played repeatedly a considerable number of times throughout the piece. Therefore, to prevent the listener from becoming bored, instead of playing it the same way every time, try introducing variations in articulation, dynamics, balance between hands, and ornamentation each time this theme appears.
Fundamentally, consider this a cheerful and enjoyable Gavotte. Consequently, it is desirable to play it lightly and joyfully, rather than heavily. Up to the Double, there is an interplay between G major and D major. D major may have a slightly higher tension than G major.
