This short piece, judging by the date inscribed on the autograph manuscript, was composed in July 1909 (bearing the annotation 'Memories of Brussels'). However, the piece remained in Scriabin's possession for a period after its composition, and it was only in 1911 that it was entrusted to conductor Koussevitzky, who was the publisher of Scriabin's later works, and was published in the same year.

This piece, spanning just over one page in the autograph manuscript and lasting approximately one minute in performance, bears the instruction 'avec délicatesse' (with delicacy). Emblematic of this instruction, dynamic markings prescribe a soft execution almost throughout, commencing with pp at the outset. The form is considered a somewhat modified ternary form, wherein a section characterized by appoggiaturas in the upper voice, marked poco cresc., and featuring sequences, introduces a somewhat heightened sense of elevation.
