One of the representative works by Noguchi Ujo and Nakayama Shimpei. It is structured to allow children to easily share the series of images of blowing and releasing soap bubbles. It is also said that Ujo wrote it following a tragic event in March Meiji 41 (1908), when his eldest daughter with his first wife (Takashio Hiro) passed away at only seven days old. The melody of "Shabon Dama" is said to resemble "Shu Ware o Aisu" (Jesus Loves Me), a hymn widely regarded as the first to be sung in Japanese by Japanese people and the most beloved. Interestingly, the original poem of "Shu Ware o Aisu" also tells the story of a young boy who died prematurely, sharing the common theme of "a prayer for a fading young life."
