Act IV, No. 27, Susanna's Aria, "Deh vieni, non tardar" (Come, my dear, do not delay) (Rose Aria)
Premiere: May 1, 1789, Vienna
Before ending his life at the young age of 35, Mozart composed 22 operas, among which "Le nozze di Figaro" (The Marriage of Figaro) is considered one of his masterpieces.
It is based on "Le Mariage de Figaro", the sequel to Pierre Beaumarchais's French comedy "Le Barbier de Séville" (The Barber of Seville).
My dearest love,
The joyful moment will soon arrive.
There's no need for worry;
No one will disturb us now.
All will be tender;
Even the stars in the sky are always gentle.
So please, hurry here.
Come now, without delay! My dearest love,
My heart burns, waiting for you.
The silver moon is unseen,
The meadow breeze is quiet,
The gently rustling brook
Gently echoes in my heart,
Even the fragrant blooming flowers
Appear joyful to my eyes.
Come! My beloved, amidst these hidden plants,
I wish to crown your head with roses.
