In Yuasa's creative activities, words like "origin" and "genesis" hold significant meaning as key terms. This work, titled "Inner-Tactile Universe," a term originally coined by the British art critic Herbert Read, also embodies the meaning of returning to the fundamental place where music originates. To date, Yuasa has composed a total of five works bearing this title: I and II are for piano, III for 20-string koto and shakuhachi, IV for cello and piano, and V for orchestra.
This work, which became the first to "declare his archaeological attitude" (composer's liner notes), is dominated by dissonant yet soft, thinly textured sounds. Within this, various aspects unfold, such as clear modal melodic lines in unison appearing occasionally, rhythmic motifs in staccato, and the repetition of single notes like echoes.
