A pianist from Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China. He began receiving piano instruction from Professor Zhu Ya-Fen at the age of three, and at five, he won the Shenyang Piano Competition and gave his first recital. At the age of nine, he entered the Primary School affiliated with the Central Conservatory of Music, where he studied piano under Zhao Pingguo. In 1997, he moved to the United States and studied under Gary Graffman at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
In 1999, at the Gala Concert of the Ravinia Festival, he performed Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Christoph Eschenbach, substituting for the indisposed André Watts, and received high acclaim.
He has frequently collaborated with orchestras in Europe and America and is active worldwide.
