Erica Numamitsu graduated from the Music High School Attached to the Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts, and subsequently from the university itself. She is currently active as a solo pianist, an orchestral pianist for domestic orchestras, a collaborative pianist for chamber music, and a prolific composer and arranger, providing numerous works. She has studied piano under Reiko Ikegawa, Mari Takeda, Michiko Ta, and Saori Ta, and chamber music under Miyoko Yamane Goldberg. Her accolades include Second Prize at the Jr. Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition (USA), followed by a laureate concert at Suntory Hall in Tokyo. She also won Third Prize in the Grand Prize category of the PTNA Piano Competition. In New York, she received instruction from the late Alicia de Larrocha and performed as an opening act for her concert. She has performed extensively with orchestras worldwide, including Ensemble of Tokyo, Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra, Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Krakow, and Savaria Symphony Orchestra (Hungary). In 2005, she held her solo recital at Suntory Hall in Tokyo. Since 2006, she has been involved in the music performance, composition, and soundtrack CD recordings for the Fuji TV drama, film, and anime series "Nodame Cantabile." For the anime version, she provided full performance dubbing for all playing scenes. For the drama and film versions, in addition to recording and dubbing, she also served as a piano instructor for the actors. On TV Asahi's "Untitled Concert," she filled in for the late Kentaro Haneda, the original performer. Beyond classical music, she has composed theme songs for motorsport competitions held at domestic circuits and has been extensively involved in arranging and piano recording for J-POP artists' tours. She was invited as an official accompanist to the Summer International Academy of the Mozarteum University Salzburg. She also dedicates herself to guiding younger generations through her unique approach to solfège, harmony, and musical analysis, all from a performer's perspective. She participated in the arrangement and performance recording for the film "Nishikita Chopin," for which she received the Best Composer Award at the Madrid International Film Festival. She composed the 45th-anniversary commemorative song for ABC Radio's "Ohayo Personality Dozo Yozo Desu," which is currently on air. Furthermore, she was granted permission, for the first time in history, to arrange "Gyūnyū Sekken no Uta" (Cow Brand Soap Song) for piano, which is now used in the program's weather forecast. In May 2021, her first solo CD was released by 299MUSIC. It has received high acclaim, including being selected as a semi-special recommendation by "Record Geijutsu," a recommendation by "Ongaku Gendai," "Album of the Week" by Naxos Music Library, and featured on Spotify. She is a registered pianist at Biwako Hall and a member of the FM Kyoto Broadcast Program Council.
