              Author: Hara, Akiho
(August 13, 1830, Schwerstedt [near Erfurt] — July 19, 1889, Wernigerode) German pianist and composer.
He was active primarily in Berlin and gained renown as a teacher. He composed over 400 light and elegant piano miniatures. As these piano miniatures were relatively easy to play, they became very popular, especially among upper-class families in Europe at the time. His Blumenlied (Flower Song), Op. 39, and In der Alpenhütte (In the Alpine Hut), Op. 240, are still beloved and frequently performed in Japan today.
