After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts and its graduate school, he studied at the Conservatoire de Paris as a scholarship student. Subsequently, he studied electroacoustic music and computer music at IRCAM, where he was strongly influenced by the cutting-edge French music of the 1980s. His music, which can be described as the epitome of sophistication, delicate yet dynamic, continues to receive high acclaim in Europe. He is active not only as a composer but also as a pianist. With flexible yet robust technique and profound insight, he has earned immense trust across a wide range of fields, from contemporary music to classical music. He has studied composition with Yoshio Mamiya, Masayuki Nagatomi, Betsy Jolas, and Serge Nigg, and piano and piano accompaniment with Yoshie Takara, Henriette Puig-Roget, and Jean Koerner. After serving as an Assistant Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts, he is currently the Artistic Director of Shizuoka Concert Hall AOI. He has received numerous awards, including the Takei Prize, Kenzo Nakajima Music Award, Otaka Prize, Minister of Education's Award for Fine Arts (New Artist), and Kyoto Music Award (Practical Division).
