Graduated at the top of his class from the Vocal Music Department and the Solo Performance Department of the Graduate School at Tokyo University of the Arts. In 1989, he studied abroad at the Dresden University of Music. Upon graduation, he signed an exclusive contract with the Görlitz Theatre and debuted as Escamillo in "Carmen". In 1993, he obtained the German National Performer Qualification with the highest distinction. He performed as Germont in "La Traviata" at the Maribor National Theatre, and as Harlequin in the opera "Ariadne auf Naxos" at the New National Theatre. He made his Vienna debut as Claudio in Jörg Demus's opera "Fool and Death". Simultaneously, a CD of the same work was released by Demusica. Other releases include Schubert's song cycle "Winterreise" from Slava label, "Verdi Duets" from Rutis, Mahler's "Des Knaben Wunderhorn", and Schumann's "Dichterliebe" and "Romantic Concert" with W. Rieger from Fontec, among others. He received instruction from Akihiko Fujinuma, Teiichi Nakayama, L. Bertagnolio, K. Widmer, H. Hotter, and T. Adam. Currently, he is a member of Nikikai.
R. Schumann's song cycle "Dichterliebe" is scheduled for release from Sonorité label.
