Composed in New York in the autumn of 1992, this work was revised in Brisbane in the autumn of the following year. Sabin dedicated this piece to his good friend and mentor in New York, David Del Tredici. The atmosphere of autumn differs significantly between Australia, where the composer resides, and New York. Reflecting on the cool autumnal ambiance of the American East Coast in the Northern Hemisphere, the composer completed this serene music. Characteristic of a minimalist composer, the opening of the piece is dominated by a repetitive two-note motif (A-sharp - B) consisting of eighth notes, while the middle section presents a swelling and complex soundscape with melodious arpeggiated textures. It is soft and elegant music. Currently, the manuscript is held at the Australian Music Centre, and copies are available.
