Capers
A collection of pieces that serves as a sequel to "Keyboard Collage," published in 2000. The difficulty level is comparable to Czerny's Etudes Op. 299 (School of Velocity). The level is higher than the previous work. The word 'Capers' implies diversion, recreation, etc. True to its title, with the exception of the fourth piece (Sentimental Czerny), the collection features genres far removed from classical music, such as blues, ragtime, boogie-woogie, and swing jazz. It is highly entertaining and serves as a perfect refreshing break to play between classical pieces.
Dedicated to the composer's seven grandchildren (Nina, Joel, Bray, Alyssa, Annick, Noah, Emma).
- 1. Summer Blues (Slowly, 4/4, D Major)
- 2. Ragamuffin (Jauntily, 4/4, C Major)
- 3. Boogie Train (Energetic, 4/4, C Major)
- 4. Sentimental Czerny (Leisurely, 4/4, C Major)
- 5. Dancin' Shoes (With ease, 4/4, F Major)
- 6. Dig It! (Solid rock tempo, 4/4, D Minor)
- 7. Down Home (With a good beat, 4/4, F Major)
- 8. G-Whiz Blues (Easy-goin', 4/4, G Major)
