This is an original work for two pianos. Its difficulty level is comparable to Czerny's 30 Etudes. Although titled 'Blues,' it is a piece with a stylish, light music-like mood. It is also suitable as an introductory piece for students learning two-piano repertoire. The tempo is quarter note = 66, in 2/4 time, and in C minor. Its structure is exceedingly simple, merely repeating a single theme with changes in key. While it modulates to C major midway, a melancholic musical character is consistently maintained. The continuous chord passages should be played with a light touch, keeping the volume subdued. Arpeggiated embellishments are introduced at key points, enhancing the characteristic effect of a two-piano work. The aim is to express a momentary sparkle, like a shooting star. In later years, the composer himself arranged it for piano solo.
