This piece progresses in D minor at a moderate tempo of quarter note = 88. At the opening, as guitar-like arpeggios are strummed, the melody gradually shifts with chromatic movements, revealing subtle changes in color. The piece is structured in four-measure phrases throughout, with chromatic movements and stepwise progressions employed extensively. Therefore, carefully capturing the melodic breadth and changes in timbre, and playing the high notes in the right hand with a crystalline, star-like brilliance, will further enhance the atmosphere of the piece.
For four measures starting from measure 33, a combination of ritardando and crescendo leads to a fortissimo quarter note. Subsequently, a quarter rest with a fermata appears, creating a silence as if time has stopped. After this sequence is repeated twice, the scene changes from measure 41. In section B, movement is added to the low notes in the left hand, initiating a new development. From measure 49, a bright and beautiful melody emerges. Since subtle dynamic changes are indicated, careful expression is required.
The entire piece is structured in A-B-A ternary form, with the calm and fantastical atmosphere of the opening returning.
