This piece was composed as a piano solo, serving as a sequel to the piano duet "Invitation to the Magic Mansion!" (魔法の館へご招待!), for the premiere concert "Watashi ni mo Hikeru kana?" (わたしにもひけるかな?), organized by OTO no Kai and held at Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall.
It depicts a story, in A-B-A' ternary form, where a magic mansion exists deep within a mysterious forest, and the wizard, its master, teaches magic to children.
In the middle section, ghosts also appear. The key to playing mystically, as if ghosts are floating, is to make the last note of the left-hand triplet (the tied note) sound weak and hazy. Be careful as the thumb tends to play too strongly, and try to imagine the sound of a celesta when performing.
In the recapitulation, suddenly, the wizard's mischievous nature is unleashed, and he casts a surprising and astonishing spell on the children, leading to a dynamic conclusion. Now... what kind of magic was it?
Hand movements and rhythms that resemble casting a spell appear in various places, so please feel free to imagine your own story and enjoy!
