Written in C major with the tempo marking Allegro maestoso, this work begins with a 24-bar introduction featuring alternating passages of unison between the left and right hands and chorale-like textures, after which a lively rondo theme is presented. While the introduction is in 4/4 time, this rondo theme is written in 2/4 time and is presented a total of three times. Furthermore, both hands are written polyphonically. Moreover, even within this main rondo section, occasionally, as in the introduction, sections featuring unison between the left and right hands or homophonic textures can be observed. The secondary theme inserted into this main rondo section creates a memorable melody solely with eighth notes, and this melodic figure is diversely ornamented. Subsequently, triplets are characteristic, and the piece concludes with a coda played in unison by both hands. In the same year, this work was arranged by Chopin himself for two pianos.
