For two harps or piano four hands (pour deux harpes ou piano à 4 mains). Annie Challan is one of the most prominent contemporary French harpists. Her acclaimed recordings from the LP era are particularly well-known worldwide. Coming from a family environment where both her father (René Challan) and uncle (Henri Challan) were composers, Annie has also engaged in composition alongside her performance and educational activities. This piece is an unusual work: while primarily a duo for beginner harpists, its range allows it to be played as a piano four-hand piece on a single instrument. Quarter note = 88, 2/4 time, C major. The primo part is approximately at the level of early Beyer, and the secondo part at the level of later Beyer. Amidst its charming simplicity, the piece features alternating dialogue and coordination between both parts, making it ideal for an introduction to ensemble playing. Sections where hands are close together also serve as practice for mutual consideration and compromise.
