Allegro Moderato (c. 1912?)
- Autograph Manuscript: Ms. 1060 (held by the Museum of Modern Music)
Presumed to be the third movement of the Sonata in E major.
The autograph manuscripts of the second movement of the Sonata in E major and the Allegro Moderato have small page numbers written on each page. The numbers for the second movement are 9 to 12, and for the Allegro Moderato, they are 13 to 16. Although the first movement of the Sonata in E major does not have page numbers, it consists of 8 pages. The handwriting also closely resembles that of the Sonata in E major.
Furthermore, regarding the Sonata in E major, only a cover exists with the inscription "Sonata in E major, Fourth Piece, Concluded January 24, Meiji 45 (1912)." This suggests that up to four movements were composed, but the scores have not been found.
The score was first published in 2022 by Muse Press in Kōsaku Yamada: Piano Works, Volume 1 "Early Works in Classical Style". (Commentary: Akatsuki Takaku; Edited and Collated by: Nanako Sugiura)
