Composed in February 1941. This work dates from around the time the composer advanced from the undergraduate course to the research course at the Tokyo Music School, and it is said that he received instruction from Kunihiko Hashimoto. The composer himself repeatedly performed his own work on various occasions, and his son, Michio Kitazume, is said to have accompanied him several times.
