From the Composer
The term "cuddly" evokes an image of sounds that are endearing, lovable, and, in terms of texture, "soft." When composing this piece, I aimed to ensure that everything was free from any constraints. Regarding tonality, chord selection, and rhythm, I discarded all academic compositional sensibilities here, choosing only what I personally favored.
The two melodies, progressing simultaneously, embrace each other, tracing gentle arcs.

About the Piece
Composed in 2020.
As the title "cuddly" suggests, meaning "cute" or "huggable," it is a sensitive and lovely piece, as if gently embracing something precious and fragile. The premiere was performed by Mami Suetsugu (Cl.) and Nanako Sugiura (Pf.) in a clarinet and piano arrangement, but it is designated “for any instrument(s)“, allowing it to be played on any instrument. The fresh sensibility of the 17-year-old composer shines through.
