The accompaniment frequently includes non-chord tones, and over its intricate, almost tangled movement, a long-breathed melody unfolds. In the middle section, the meter changes to 3/4, and both hands, employing polyrhythms, prominently display a vibrant character. Despite their contrasting characters, these two sections also share commonalities, such as the use of disjunct intervals and dotted triplets.
