Second Movement: Andante

B-flat major, 2/4 time. Slow movement.

The main theme employs the opening motif of the first movement (a motif with a dotted anacrusis ascending by a fourth), thus bringing a sense of unity between the movements. The secondary theme is played in the tenor register from measure 13. The development section is a mere six measures long, from measures 31 to 36, and leads to the recapitulation, guided by an ornamental passage in the left hand. In the recapitulation, as the secondary theme also returns in the tonic key, the melody is in the alto register, and has a more gentle expression than in the exposition.
