Rocherolle has composed numerous Christmas collections with various themes. Over a period of 30 years, he has published 11 collections for piano solo, 4 for piano duet, and also a collection for chamber music (piano trio). This collection was published in conjunction with the CD of the same name, “Tidings of Joy” (Aureus Recordings 1995), released by pianist Julie Rivers. The included pieces are a selection of 30 songs from three of Rocherolle's previously published Christmas collections. If one already possesses the previously published works, purchasing this collection may not be necessary; however, for those who do not, it would serve as an accessible album. Specifically, pieces are taken from:

• Christmas Around the Piano: 25 pieces
• Creative Christmas: 4 pieces
• Christmas Anew: 2 pieces

The discrepancy between the total number of pieces (31) and the number of songs (30) is due to the seamless transition of the 4th piece ("It Came Upon the Midnight Clear") from the "Anew" arrangement to the "Around the Piano" arrangement (following the CD). In actuality, many tracks on Rivers' CD feature synthesizer sound effects layered over the piano solo, meaning this collection cannot fully reproduce the CD. Nevertheless, the CD, supervised by Rocherolle himself, serves as a valuable reference for the potential applied uses of the collection, and even setting aside the appropriateness of the sound effects, Rivers' performance itself is excellent, making it worth a listen. Currently, the content of the same CD is officially available for public viewing by Rivers herself on video-sharing platforms.
