A sonata form with a broad introduction. Compared to the wind instruments, the piano is dominant, taking on the melodic part first for both the main and subordinate themes, and then exchanging roles with the wind instruments. On the other hand, in the development section, the wind instruments engage in a dialogue with the main motives, while the piano is almost entirely dedicated to creating a harmonic background by repeating arpeggiated figures. Thus, suppressing the piano's melody in the development section might have the effect of acoustically highlighting this formally and harmonically important moment of pseudo-recapitulation of the theme, when the piano once again takes on the melodic part in the pseudo-recapitulation in the subdominant key.
