Many of Bach's major-key works in compound meter express joy, and this piece is no exception. Bach's characteristic humorous writing is also evident. In such joyful pieces, articulation is also a crucial element; ensure it prevents the piece from sounding heavy.
Therefore, for instance, the sudden shocking chords in measures 13-14 should be considered part of the humor.
Furthermore, elements such as the sudden appearance of rapid notes in the left hand (measure 20, beat 1; measure 25, beat 4) and the sudden dissonant chords (measure 31, beat 3, left-hand chord) should not be taken seriously but rather as part of the joy.
- As this is a short piece, following the repeats is advisable. In such cases, consider performing the first and second repetitions differently in some way.
- Since the piece modulates temporarily to various keys, vary the dynamics and timbre during these sections, and provide a sense of direction (towards which note the music is moving).
