Adagio Section: Improvisation
The Adagio section is written in a free note-form that requires a high degree of improvisation. Once you grasp the rhythm, feel free to vary the timing and play it improvisationally to some extent.
Dynamics and Chord Progression
Regarding dynamics: As an example, if measures 1-7 are reduced to chords:
- 1 CEG
- 2 EGC
- 3 DFAC DFH
- 4 CEG CEA
- 5 CDFisA HDG
- 6 ACEG DFisAC
- 7 GHD EGC CEG DFisAC
Try playing only these chords consecutively from measure 1 to 7. You will notice that the tension increases as you approach measure 7. It is appropriate to simply increase the volume gradually from measure 1.
Allegro Section: Articulation
Play the Allegro section brightly and joyfully, as if waking up. For articulation, it is appropriate to play the eighth notes staccato.
Key Relationships and Dynamics
While the Adagio section transitions from C major to G major, the Allegro section serves as a progression back from G major to C major. In this section too, begin with a subdued volume and gradually increase the tension as you approach the end, traversing through many sequences.
