Likely composed between 1831 and 1832, this is a collection of works written around the time of Clara's extensive concert tour to Paris, accompanied by her father Wieck. It consists of nine relatively unrelated short pieces. All are in triple meter; in the pieces in 3/4 time, the left hand provides a typical waltz accompaniment, but this is not employed in the Fourth and Eighth pieces, which are in 3/8 time. A capriccio-like character is not consistently discernible. Robert left comments such as, "They are like hussars," or "More like impromptus than caprices, or perhaps Wieck-style Moments musicaux."
This collection contains several passages similar to Robert's Papillons, Op. 2. The morendo ending of the Second piece is evident, and similarities can also be found in the First, Sixth, and Eighth pieces.
Clara intended to dedicate this work to Robert, but at Wieck's insistence, it was dedicated to Frau Förster, who was taking lessons from Wieck.
