Play smoothly, as if skating on ice. The five slurred notes are all played sequentially with five fingers, without any thumb crossing. It is important to prepare by firmly aligning the fingers on the five keys. Use forearm rotation to play them in a single, rolling motion, aiming for a smooth and speedy performance. Furthermore, as the right and left hands alternately execute these passages, the arms should, simultaneously with the forearm rotation for playing the five notes, also be conscious of a rhythmic, alternating forward motion. The arms, which are sent forward alternately by the right and left hands every measure, will double in speed from measure 10, with both the right and left hands being sent forward within a single measure. Measures 8-9 and 14-15 should be played in line with the preceding musical flow to prevent stumbling.
