This is a 68-measure fugue. What follows is an example of its flow. If the piece is divided into two halves, the first half's peak point is considered to be between measures 16 and 17. After this point, the tension gradually decreases, reaching its lowest point in measure 24, which is then considered the beginning of the second half.
Therefore, in measure 24, although the Peters edition indicates a forte for the bass theme starting on the second beat, one might consider starting this pp and building towards the second half. Observing the second half, one finds strettos (measures 35, 48) and the theme appearing in double (measure 56), indicating a continuous increase in tension. Thus, for the second half, determine the peak point according to your own musical sensibility.
Originally, many of Bach's works in A major, whether Inventions, Sinfonias, or pieces from the Well-Tempered Clavier, are full of joy. This piece is also very optimistic; therefore, ensure that you fully convey the joy inherent in A major.
