This minuet possesses immense beauty. As it contains lyrical elements, a slightly slower tempo is perfectly acceptable. Consider the melody in the treble clef as the main melodic line, and this voice as the singing voice. While the tempo should not be fluctuated, play it with a rich, singing quality.
In the latter half, measures 23-24 are almost identical to measures 21-22. Similarly, measures 29-30 are identical to measures 27-28. These sections should be interpreted as conveying the same statement. The repetition twice serves to emphasize this statement.
Structure of the First Half
In the first half, the phrase structure is considered as 16 measures, formed by repeating the pattern of:
- 2 measures (1-2)
- 2 measures (3-4)
- 4 measures (5-8)
This pattern is repeated twice (9-10, 11-12, 13-16).
Structure of the Latter Half
In the latter half, the piece is divided into four sections:
- 8 measures (17-24)
- 6 measures (25-30)
- 4 measures (31-34)
- 4 measures (35-38)
