This is a collection of short pieces by Hikaru Hayashi, brimming with witty and ingenious musical ideas. The preface to the score states: '48 stories to play on the piano. 48 is 24 x 2. From the number 24, some may recall Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier or Chopin's Preludes. Like Bach and Chopin, this collection also progresses through 24 different keys in sequence.' Each piece is 1-2 pages long, resembling a short story, and all titles are in the format 'Song of ~'. The score includes insightful short comments, sometimes containing philosophical content, presented in simple language for the children who play them.
