A work from 1941. The piano was employed due to a desire to create mechanical and energetic music, and the idea of combining the sounds of iron and steel with ethnic energy. After its premiere in 1942, it was believed that both the full score and part scores were destroyed in the Tokyo air raids. Consequently, after the war, Ifukube composed Sinfonia Tapkaara (1954/1979) and Ritmica Ostinata (1961) based on the remaining sketches. However, in 1992, a complete set of part scores was discovered in the NHK archives, allowing Concerto Symphonique for Piano and Orchestra to see the light of day once again.
