This is an optimistic and joyful Gavotte. The main melody can be analyzed as comprising two distinct elements. The first is a theme spanning a sixth, commencing with the opening anacrusis and concluding on the second beat of measure 2. The second consists of material from the third beat of measure 2 to the second beat of measure 4. These two elements may be interpreted as a dialogue, or as representing a male and a female dance. It is advisable to differentiate the treatment of these two materials.

In the latter half, numerous sequences are present, leading to modulations to C-sharp minor and F-sharp minor. Build tension progressively to reach the climactic point between measures 17 and 18.
