This "Air" allows for various interpretations. Given its title "for two trumpets," it is acceptable to perform it in a manner that depicts trumpets, or not.
As the fundamental idea is optimistic, it would be beneficial to devise articulations to express joy. Variations in timbre and volume across sequences and different keys are also necessary.
However, if one were to depict a trumpet-like sound in this Air, it would be better not to shape the lines too much. For instance, instead of playing the end of phrases to fade away or adding subtle volume changes based on pitch, it would be more trumpet-like to play with a firm timbre, flatly and plainly. In such a case, it is advisable to clearly distinguish the timbre of the melodic parts from the other parts: play the melody brightly and clearly, and the other parts softly, at p.
