This Allemande embodies the elegance of A major. One might perceive a gentle flow of time. Although long ascending sequences appear midway, they do not create an oppressive tension; rather, they should be regarded as a means of expressing beauty.
There are several cadences within this piece. While they do not physically consume extra time, recognizing them as turning points helps prevent the music from becoming overly rushed.
The location of each cadence is consistently marked by a dotted eighth note followed by two thirty-second notes. The four cadential points are:
- The fourth beat of measure 3
- The fourth beat of measure 7
- The fourth beat of measure 12
- The fourth beat of measure 17
Performers should be mindful of these cadences; for instance, try taking a very slight, almost imperceptible amount of time. This will make the music much more agreeable to listen to.
This Allemande is actually a quarter-beat short at the end; please eliminate any unnaturalness by concluding slowly.
