A typical Handel variation, where the tension increases as it progresses. Typically, the note values gradually become smaller (shorter durations), resulting in a greater density of notes towards the end.
Only Var. 4 uses triplets, which have a longer note value than the sixteenth notes used previously. Since sixteenth notes are already used from Var. 1 and this set of variations extends to Var. 7, perhaps the return to triplets is intended to introduce some variation midway through. Although sixteenth notes disappear in Var. 4, it is desirable to maintain the tension (to avoid an abrupt loss of tension in this variation). Some performers tend to play Var. 4 slightly faster. To prevent the tension from dropping in Var. 4, try to be creative with articulation; for example, playing the triplets staccato, or playing the right-hand chords short and strong.
In Var. 5, there is a melodic line in the left hand. It is advisable to bring this out.
In Var. 7, continuous thirty-second notes appear for the first time, but do not slow down the tempo just because it is difficult.
