The first and third pieces were composed in 1835, the fourth in 1846, and the second around 1848-1849. Along with the four mazurkas of Op. 68, they were published posthumously in 1855, compiled by Fontana. Although not formally dedicated, the first piece is believed to have been presented to Miss Anna Młokosiewicz, and the third to Madame Adelina Hoffmann.
No. 1 in G major
No. 1 in G major is a Vivace mazur. It has a four-bar introduction.
No. 2 in G minor
As mentioned earlier, No. 2 in G minor is considered a late work. It is marked Cantabile at the beginning and is a Kujawiak with a mazur-like middle section.
No. 3 in C major
No. 3 in C major is an Allegretto. It is an Oberek in ternary form, also possessing a waltz-like character.
No. 4 in A minor
No. 4 in A minor is a Moderato animato. It is a Kujawiak in ternary form. In the middle section, it modulates to the parallel major, A major.
