The Four Mazurkas, Op. 17 are dedicated to Madame Lina Freppa.

• No. 1 in B-flat major: Vivo e risoluto. This is a Mazur.
• No. 2 in E minor: Lento ma non troppo. This is a Kujawiak with Mazur insertions throughout.
• No. 3 in A-flat major: Lento assai. Although written with a Mazur rhythm, it is a Mazurka with the character of a Kujawiak. It is composed in a compound ternary form, with triplet scales characteristic of an Oberek sounding in the middle section. This middle section features modulations utilizing enharmonic equivalents. Furthermore, syncopation is frequently employed throughout the entire piece.
• No. 4 in A minor: Lento ma non troppo. It is written in ternary form with a 4-bar introduction and a 24-bar coda. While it is a Kujawiak Mazurka, the middle section contrasts with a Mazur in the parallel major.
