Composed during his stay in Heidelberg, when he was 23 years old. At the suggestion of Belyayev, who helped publish this work, Scriabin underwent treatment for his neurosis in this city. Written with polyrhythms of 2 against 3 and 3 against 4, this piece is characterized by undulating movements in both the left and right hands.
