The second piece is a polyrhythmic etude characteristic of Scriabin. It is primarily based on quintuplets. Scriabin particularly favored employing ratios such as 3 against 5, as seen in this piece. It demands a variety of touches, including tenuto, staccato, and slurs. Although it is a short piece, spanning less than 30 measures and lasting approximately one minute, changes in propulsive force can be observed as the piece progresses, such as the left hand's range expanding. Furthermore, the left hand's arpeggios, which cover a wide range, can also be seen as a musical figure unique to Scriabin, the pianist who injured his right hand.
